Healing the Wounds of Adversity Training

Healing the Wounds of Adversity CNI.jpg

We invite you to join us for Healing the Wounds of Adversity, a 2 day training event on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Resilience.

Connected for Life has been delivering training for organisations and groups in N Ireland on ACEs and Resilience for a number of years. We have developed this training in response to requests from individuals who are interested in the training, but have not been able to access organisational training.

This 2 day event will be informative, thought provoking, fun and interactive. It will explore adversity, the wounds it leaves and how we can reach for resilience. Some people may find it challenging as it invites participants to safely reflect on their childhood experiences, relationships and triggers.

It will:

  • Introduce the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) study and explain how this applies in the N Ireland context

  • Outline the mechanisms by which ACEs lead to poor health and social outcomes – Toxic stress and its impact on the brain, body, attachment, core beliefs and self-regulation

  • Explore the ESSENCE of resilience

  • Use real life examples to explore ACEs / resilience

  • Examine how and why relationships underpin resilience-building

  • Discuss how having an awareness and making sense of personal early experiences can enhance practice and / or personal and family relationships

  • Explore strategies to help build and nurture resilience

The event will incorporate a screening of the acclaimed documentary Resilience, the biology of stress and the science of hope.. ,

Tea and coffee and training resource pack will be provided but lunch is not included.

We look forward to welcoming you to this event.

Resilience Documentary - Antrim, N Ireland

We invite you to join us for this screening of the award-winning documentary Resilience. This is the film that is helping the world wake up to the far reaching impact of childhood trauma on individuals, communities and society.

The findings of the Adverse Childhood Experiences study, published in 1998, have revealed the most important public health findings of a generation. Scientists now realise that childhood trauma is one of the leading causes of everything from heart disease and cancer, to substance abuse, depression and violence. Join us to find out how that was discovered -- and what we can all do to act on its insights.

This screening is being hosted by Dartmouth Films and Connected for Life. The screening will be followed by an audience and panel discussion, giving all attendees a chance to explore the insights generated by the film.
